Ideas for Gift Wrapping Small Gifts

Hello, it's Lisa here to share some ideas for those small gifts that you might be giving away this Christmas.

I have used Papermill Direct White Linen card for all of these projects as well as digital patterned papers and elements from the Hello December collection from Glitz Design.

I like this collection because of the mix of non traditional Christmas colours (brown and yellow) with the traditional colours of red and green and of course, the linen texture of the Papermill card really makes things look classy.

First up I have a Pillow Box

Pillow Boxes are great for small gifts like jewellery and trinkets. They're easy to make and also look really pretty once decorated. There are a lot of Pillow Box cutting files in the Silhouette Store but for those of you without an electronic die cutter, there are also dies (like this one from Sizzix) and free, downloadable templates  (like this one from Homemade Gifts Made Easy) that you can use to make your own.

If you're going to use digital papers, you may need to do some testing to make sure that the pattern is on the linen embossed side of the card and the printed template is on the back. If you have a biro that has run dry, you can use that to score the curved lines. 

For small candles or stacks of tea lights, cube boxes save you the hassle of trying to get the ends of your tube like shape of wrapping paper look neat and tidy.

Again, I used my Silhouette Cameo to make this one piece cube box from a cut from by SVG Cuts but there is a free template here that you can print off and use to make your box. You could make 12 or 24 of these boxes, fill them with little toys or treats and pop them inbetween the branches of the Christmas tree or around your living room as an Advent Calendar with a twist. A friend of mine made and numbered little boxes for his girlfriend and placed them around the Christmas tree. The last one contained an engagement ring - how romantic is that!

For a more interesting way to give a gift card, rather than those little cards that you get in supermarkets; string tie envelopes are great.

String tie envelopes are a handy and almost a vintage touch to gift giving at Christmas. You can put a gift card inside or some money and the envelope can sit under the tree with the rest of the presents. Minieco has a free template for these on her blog here.

And lastly, for those really tiny gifts, these cute little pyramid boxes will look great

These would also look great strung and hung on the Christmas Tree. There is a free template and tutorial for how to string these here on the Things to Make and Do website.
