Water Colour Effect Pointsettias Quick Card 6

Hi everyone, Sylvia here with a quick and easy way to make batches of Christmas cards.  I make a lot of individually designed cards at Christmas but also make batches of cards to boost my stash of cards.  When making batches of cards I need something quick and simple like this poinsettia watercolour effect design.

Materials needed:

  • Papermilldirect smooth white 250gsm, white hemp 255gsm and Christmas red 240gsm cardstock
  • Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz mini layering stencil set #19
  • Ranger distress inks festive berries, cracked pistachio, bundled sage and tumbled glass
  • Archival ink black and Momento ink London fog
  • Taylored Expressions banner dies
  • Hero Arts sentiment stamps
  • Ranger Liquid Pearls

Cut the white hemp 255gsm card in half lengthwise to make a top fold card blank.  Take a piece of white smooth 250gsm card and stencil the poinsettias using festive berries distress ink, making some areas of the poinsettia darker than others.  Next highlight areas of the card with tumbled glass distress ink, leaving a few white areas.  Lastly using a mixture of crushed pistachio and bundled sage stencil the holly leaves.

Depending on the stencilled picture stamp a sentiment or add one later stamped on a banner or tag.  Layer the stencilled panel onto a slightly larger piece of Christmas red 240gsm card, them mat onto the white card blank.  Add some Perfect Pearls to the center of the poinsettias to finish the card.

I usually stencil directly onto A4 card then cut the stencilled panels out, rather than cutting small pieces of card beforehand.  When I have enough stencilled panels I cut them out and stamp on the sentiment, cut out the corresponding number of red card layers then mat and layer onto the card blank.  Any additions like the Perfect Pearls or stamped banners are added when the card is complete.

I hope this is helpful if you still have your Christmas cards to complete.
