Hi all,

I am so excited to be able to create a page for each month with one of papermilldirect’s calendars. There is fabulous amount of space to create a great image to look at for the whole month.

As I have just got mine for 2019, I decided to start with July and intend to create blog post for each monthly page. I hope you will watch out for them :)

Materials used:

  • White Plain Card
  • Assorted acrylic paints
  • Sponge
  • Baby wipes
  • Black Archival ink
  • White gel pen
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Stamps from JOFY Paperartsy – flowers from sets 64 and 61.

I began by sponging the white card using a number of different coloured paints. I waited until each layer dried before adding the next layer. I interspersed the colours to create depth and contrast. I used pinks, oranges, yellows in random patches. When I was happy with the colours…I used a wet baby wipe to ‘smoosh’ it all over to ensure that there was no white showing through.

I repeated this on a smaller piece of card with greens for the leaves.

I stamped various flowers and leaves from each set using black archival ink onto the coloured card when it was totally dry.

I found it quite therapeutic to cut out each of the flowers and the leaves. Once I had done that, I used my white gel pen to colour in various parts of the flowers to add interest. They have various small areas which makes it quite fun and easy.

I then stuck them down with glue and finished it off with a sentiment in Versafine green ink – Spanish Moss. The sentiment is one of my own sentiment stamps.

Happy sunny July xx
