Nautical Themed Card 2

Hello everyone, Sylvia here today with a nautical themed card which was inspired by a small piece of linen card coloured with blue and orange distress inks and spritz with water. I loved the colours on this tiny piece of card which made me think of the sea. The piece of card was die cut using a small square die and stamped with part of a sailing boat stamp.

I set about designing my card using some of the stamps from an Apple Blossom nautical stamp set. I wanted to bring in blue to tone with the inky square and chose Turquoise Cumbria Colour Card and an oblong of Ebony Cumbria Colour Card to add contrast.

The ebony card was stamped with a lighthouse using white ink and a sentiment which was embossed with white embossing powder. The two panels were moved around on the turquoise card until I was happy with the placement, the card still needed some more interest though. I added the compass point at the top and bottom of the ebony panel, stuck the ebany panel in place then added the stamped square using 3D sticky pads. The turquoise panel was added to a square white linen card blank using 3D foam tape.

The Cumbria Colour Card is a lovely card to use, it is 270gsm and is a nice firm card with a soft feel, it comes in an array of colours too. It stamped and heat embossed well, especially with the white ink which I sometimmes find difficult to get it to show. I will be trying some dry embossing and foiling on Cumbria Colour Card next.

Do you have a box of inky scraps? We would love to see how you use yours, don't forget to tag us on Facebook or Instagram so we can see what you are making with papermilldirect card.
