I used the following materials for the place cards:

  • Papermilldirect ivory smooth, buff, spring green and mocha brown card
  • Tim Holtz tattered pine cone die
  • Ranger distress ink vintage photo and shabby shutters, Archival ink sepia
  • Ranger distress paint picket fence
  • blending tool, cocktail sticks, glue and ribbon

Cut ivory card to make a place card to the size you require and fold in half, cut a piece of buff card slightly smaller than the front of the place card and a piece of ivory card slightly smaller than the buff, for writing the name. Edge the buff and ivory card with vintage photo distress ink with a blending tool.

Stamp or write the name of your guest on the ivory card, fasten a ribbon round the buff card and attach to the place card, attach the ivory name card over the ribbon at an angle.

Cut out two pinecones in brown card and two juniper leaves in spring green card, edge the juniper leaves with shabby shutters distress ink. Glue a cocktail stick to the beginning of the pinecone swirl to aid in the construction of the cone. Turn the edges of the cone scales outwards slightly and crease each pine scale in the center, wind the cone swirl round the cocktail stick to form the cone, fastening the last cone scale round the cocktail stick and glue. Adjust the cone scales and dab with picket fence distress paint to look like snow. When the glue has dried cut off the cocktail stick at the bottom of the cone. Glue the leaves and cones to the place card to finish.

If you do not have the pinecone die use other dies, real pinecones, holly berries or pointsettia. You can use the same format to create favour boxes and a menu for your table too, I added some hessian to my box and menu for more of a rustic feel.

Wishing you all a vary Happy Christmas and New Year,
