To make the faux letterpress background cover one side of an embossing folder with clear embossing ink using a brayer, I used the raised side of the folder. Put your card in the folder and run through an embossing/die cutting machine, carefully remove the card from the folder and sprinkle with embossing powder. Shake off excess embossing powder and heat to emboss.

You can try different embossing folders and try inking the opposite side of the folder for a completely different look.

A card blank was made with the ivory card to which was added a navy mat, the letterpress background, a navy die cut strip, red embossed hearts and a sentimentt to make a Valentine card.

Materials used:

  • Papernilldirect ivory linen Papermilldirect post box red and navy cardstock
  • Crafter's Companian embossing folder
  • Versamark embossing ink pad
  • Oak House Studio red embossing powder
  • Brayer
  • Dies - hearts Sizzix, border Cheery Lynn Designs and fishtail flags Die-namics
  • Stamp - Stampers Anonymous simple sentiments

Hope you enjoy trying out this letterpress technique.
