Today I am going to show you how I made this fun, cute, and easy assemble waterfall card with a gift card surprise at the back.

The card making supplies you need are:

Plain White Card

Turquoise Card

Designer papers

Scoring board and bone folder

Ruler and pencil

String/twine

Enamel dots

Fc1

Cut:

1 x piece of blue card measuring 8.25" x 4.25"

4 x pieces of blue card measuring 2.25" x 2.25"

4 x pieces of plain white card measuring 2 1/8" x 2 1/8"

4 pieces of designer paper measuring 2" x 2"

Score the 8.25" x 4.25" piece of card on the short side at 1" and 3.25"

Fc2

Flip the card 90 degrees and score at 0.75" just to the intersecting scorelines, on both ends

Fc3

Then score at 4.5", 5", 5, 5" and 6"

Fc4

On the long side, cut away all the pieces outside the scorelines, except for the end section on the half that has the scorelines, as shown below. When you fold the long half underneath, it should be 0.75" longer than the top half.

Fold and crease the 4 centre scorelines, and the end tabs, both ways to loosen the card.

Fc5

Fc6

Fc7

On the narrower end, measure in 0.5" and down 0.75" on both sides and mark with a pencil. Cut away the marked sections to create the 'pull' tab which makes the mechanism work.

I decided to cut this down to 0.5" in length at this point.

Fc9

Take the blue squares, the white squares and the designer paper and layer them to make 4 panels. Take one of the panels and adhere it flat to the end of the flip mechanism.

Apply a strip of double sided tape just inside each of the other 3 scorelines. Remove the liner from the double sided tape and adhere then next panel to it. Continue until you have all 4 in place.

Fc13

Fc14

Apply strong adhesive to the outside of the 0.75" tabs. These will be all that hold the mechanism to the card front so I recommend using a good, strong tape. Fold the tabs around the back of the mechanism and remove the liner from the tape.

Fc15

Fc16

For the card base, cut some white card measuring 8" x 5.25 and fold to make a 4" x 5.25 base. Cut some blue card measuring 5" x 3.75", another piece of white card measuring 4 7/8" x 3 5/8" and some paper measuring 4.75" x 3.5". Adhere them all together and adhere the panel onto the card base.

Take the flip mechanism and carefully position onto the front of the card before pressing down firmly on the tabs to secure them.

Cut or stamp a sentiment and add it beneath the flip mechanism

Fc17

Pull the end tab to open the waterfall fully. Take the gift card and apply a little glue dot or double sided tape to the back. Slide the gift card slightly under the back image, so that it doesn't catch when opening and closing the mechanism, and press down on the glue dot to secure it.

Fc18

Add some enamel dots beside the sentiment

This is such a fun card to make and can be adapted for any occasion. We would love to see your take on it so please do share on our Facebook Page if you make one.

Thanks for dropping by today.
