Hello, Sylvia here with a desk top calendar for 2017.  I wanted a small desk calendar to highlight dates for projects, birthdays etc. and this is what I made.

The stand was made by cutting a piece of white card 11.5cm x 29.5cm and scoring at the center point and 2cm either side of the center score line.  Mountain fold the center score line and valley fold the two outer score lines, this give the standing platform for the calendar.  Bring the ends up and holding them together punch holes for binding or fastening with jump rings to allow the pages to be turned.  Cover the outside of the base with patterned paper.  Cut twelve pages and one front cover 11.5cm x 12.5cm.  Cover the front cover with patterned paper to match the base.

Decorate the pages and add a monthly calendar to each page, decorate the pages if desired.  The pages of my calendar were stamped to reflect the month, a 12 month calendar was printed and cut out to attach to the pages. You can use a bought mini calendar which should be available in the shops now.

The 160gsm card is ideal for the calendar pages, a nice light weight but not too flimsy for turning the pages at the end of the month.  It stamped beautifully too and the colours are fabulous.

Materials used:

  • Papermilldirect 300gsm white smooth card and 160gsm plain card in assorted colours
  • patterned paper from my stash (freeby from a magazine)
  • a selection of stamps to reflect the seasons/months
  • Polychromatic coloured pencils

I am off to do some more colouring in my Create-a-Calendar for 2017, great fun for adults and children and a great idea for Christmas presents too.
