Hello it’s Angela here to share a card idea with you.  This time I’m stepping away from the bright spring colours to create a more vintage distressed style of card that would be suitable for masculine makes, you could change the sentiment for Father’s Day, a birthday or retirement card. The Papermilldirect Lustre Print Gold cardstocks are perfect for this look.

Step By Step:

Emboss a 12.5cm square of PMD Lustre Print Gold ‘Harvest’ colour using the Just for men embossing folder.  Use a nail file or craft sandpaper to distress across the raised embossing and around the edges.  Randomly apply ‘Tea Dye’ distress ink to the some of the distressed panel and then mat onto a slightly larger square of PMD Lustre Print Gold card in ‘Cocoa Bean’ using d/s tape and glue to adhere.

Tear a strip of PMD Natural Parchment Paper roughly about 4cm to 5.5cm wide, apply ‘Tea Dye’ distress ink along the torn edges.  Wrap strip around the matted embossed panel and secure end on back using d/s tape.

Using ‘Rich Cocoa’ ink, stamp ‘Thanks’ (or preferred sentiment) onto natural parchment paper.  Tear out sentiment, ink around edges, and then adhere to parchment strip on embossed panel using clear drying glue.

Create a card blank by scoring and folding PMD Rich Cream Hammered card in half then trimming down to create a 14cm square card base with fold to the left.  Apply Distress Ink around the edges.  Mount embossed panel to card front using 3D foam to give height.

Die cut a pocket watch shape and hands from Lustre print Gold ‘Cocoa Bean’ and a watch face from Lustre Print Chroma Paper - Glaze Gold, apply some of the distress ink to watch face before layering the pocket watch using clear drying glue. Add pocket watch to card front using glue and 3D foam squares under watch face.

5 Cogs Close Up Dsc09845

To finish, die cut a selection of cog shapes from Lustre Print Gold card in both ‘Cocoa Bean’ and ‘Henna’ colours.  Arrange as desired on card front then glue into place using a clear drying glue.

The Lustre Print Gold cardstocks give a really nice sheen and I think they work especially well with the cog shapes.  Distressing the card stock is easy to do and gives extra texture, depth and interest.  This style would work well for masculine makes, especially Father’s Day, Birthdays or Retirement Cards.  Angela x
