This week I’m getting back to stamping and with the theme of Florals I thought it would be nice to create a simple scene of roses in a jar which would be suitable for any occasion.  I often like to stamp onto textured card as it gives an interesting look and the papermill direct cardstocks are perfect for this, I particularly like the linen and hammered cards and for this one I am using the White Hammered.  I do like how it takes not only the stamping ink but also the alcohol markers and it can be flooded with lots of colour and blender and still stay precise.

Using black Memento ink I first stamped the flower parts onto little post-it notes and cut out to create little masks to help me build up a stamped scene.  (Don’t forget to keep your masks as these can be used another time)  I decided which flower I wanted to be at the front of my design (left hand one) and stamped it onto papermilldirect White Hammered cardstock.  I then masked off the flower head & leafy stem covering with the post it note masks and stamped the next set of flower head and stems, continuing to mask off and stamp as I built up the scene and added the stamped jar image.  If the image has any missing areas stamping, they can be added in using a black fine liner pen, for example I needed to add a little join in one stem and add some lines to the rim of the glass jar.

I used Alcohol Markers to colour the image, which gave me a chance to try out some brand new marker pens,  (colours  and details are listed at end)  by blending 3 shades of pink to create the flower heads and 3 shades of green for the leaves and stems.  The glass jar has been coloured with grey and baby blue with lots of colourless blending pen throughout.  The whole image has been outlined with the grey marker pen and I also used it to add shading (grounding) at the bottom.

When coloured I trimmed the panel down to approx. 4 ¾ “wide by 5 ¼ “high (exact dimensions will depend on your own completed stamping arrangement) stamping a sentiment of ‘Just a Note’ to the top left using black ink.  (I really like the style of these sentiment stamps from Clearly Besotted) Using double sided tape the panel was mounted first onto papermilldirect black card and then again onto papermilldirect Raspberry Pink card to pick up the colours from the stamped image.

To complete the card I scored and folded an A4 sheet of papermilldirect white hammered card and trimmed down to create a card blank to suit the proportions of the completed panel.
