I thought the papermilldirect special offer cardstock ‘Grey Pearlised speckled with silver flecks’ was ideal to use for this Game Controller Card.

This is a really simple make yet quite effective card to send to all those who love gaming, sometimes it’s difficult to come up with a card that is suitable for Teens, or Male themed but this would also be suitable for females too, gaming is not exclusively male of course.

The pattern used is a FREE cutting file & template from Birds Cards (details below) and whilst I cut the card shapes out on my Cricut Explore, this design also comes with a PDF pattern that you can print off and cut by hand if you prefer or don’t have access to a cutting machine, In addition the simple shapes and uncomplicated design mean that even younger crafters could have fun making the card too.

I started by cutting the main card piece from papermilldirect Grey Pearlised with Flecks of Silver, it is a great 300gsm weight and so perfect to create a sturdy card base.

The larger ‘buttons’ were cut from PMD Grey card and base of PMD Black card. The top middle ‘button’ has been glued to a larger circle of PMD Spring Green card to give the effect that it is lit up. I attached some of the buttons / joysticks using 3D foam pads to give some height. The 4 coloured buttons have been cut from the follow papermilldirect cardstocks: Ocean Blue, Daffodil Yellow, Post Box Red, and Apple Green. A great way to use up some of those bright coloured card scraps perhaps.

You may notice that my card has a slightly aged look, I have inked around all the cut edges using Tea Dye distress ink to give it that well used look I’m sure all avid gamer’s controllers have.

This card idea would be suitable for all occasions or even a ‘just because’ card, I personalised it for a birthday by cutting vinyl lettering out on my Cricut Explore, but you could also add peel-offs, rub-ons, die-cut or printed sentiments, or even leave it blank, to suit your requirements. You could even add a little pocket to pop a gaming gift card inside; it would make a lovely themed gift.
