father's day free printable topper

Fathers Day card using Free Fathers Days printable

In this post our designer Craig Laird takes you through how he has made this great project.

What Dad doesn't enjoy a bit of DIY? They may not be good at it but most do like to play about with a hammer and some nails and build something they think is "useful". My Step-Dad loves building things, he should of been joiner he's that good. He's just finishing building his massive shed in his back garden. I got the Happy Father's Day topper from Craft Ville

The topper comes in different sizes that is suitable for all different card sizes. It also comes with decoupage where you can cut out the wording that prints separately and create a 3D worded Father's Day card. You don't have to do this. You can see from my sample, I chose to keep the topper flat.

Its not just Father's Day toppers that are free, there is a big selection of free printables for all occasions.

The background paper also comes from the same site.

With so many choices of backing papers to choose from to match all different occasions throughout the year, each background paper comes in a few different styles. As well as the strong bold background image, you can also down load what appears to be a water mark effect background. Its the same background effect but a lot more softer and subtle. This is perfect if you print your own card verses as you can print the subtle background paper out and then print your insert wording onto that too.

Once I printed the background paper, I ran it through a wood effect embossing folder just the give the background that extra bit of dimension and so it can be a touchable card.

To create the card I have used Papermilldirect Ivory card to create the A5 card blank and I used white super smooth card to print the topper and background. I used Daffodil Yellow and Navy card to create the mat and layer edges. These 2 colours are in with the background paper so it helps to pull the card together and draws the eye in. I coloured some white card candi in with a yellow promarker and dotted round the edges of the card.
