Hello, it’s Angela back again to share another card idea for Valentine’s Day. This time I’m using my Cricut Explore to cut a shaped card that is really easy to put together but will look great displayed. (This card is available Free to Cricut Access, please check out my previous Step By Step if you wish to see a Card using stamps and / or die-cutting).

I have sized the project and colour coded it all ready, so it fits onto A4 Papermill cardstock and you will be prompted onscreen for each colour mat. (This project uses 3 colours but you could use just 2 if your prefer)

Cut the base card from Papermilldirect white card (I am using the Value White at 300gsm), the papercut overlay from Intensive Red 160gsm and the 4 hearts from Intensive Pink 160gsm)

Fold the white card base in half at the score line, fold to the left. Using a clear drying glue such as Cosmic Shimmer, adhere the red papercut overlay to card front, just add dabs of glue to areas at the back to adhere.

Take the 4 pink hearts and fold in half at the score line, carefully add glue to 1 half of a heart and attach the next heart, continue until all 4 hearts are joined carefully lining them up as you go along.

S3 Dsc09348

Glue the folded heart into the centre of the card overlay on card front using glue so it’s easier to slide evenly into the heart cut out.

This card being circular, has a rounded bottom edge and is fine to give as-is, however if you want the card to be displayed upright you can just take a small strip off the back piece as shown in the photo, this makes the card easily stand up.

To finish, add embellishments of your choice, try adhesive gems, glitter glue, etc I have added pale pink sequins.

I have never tried the Value White card before and was very impressed how well it cut even with my old slightly blunt blade. I tend to stick to Cardstock+ setting on my Explore and simply press cut again if I feel the card would benefit from it, rather than increasing any pressure, but have to say this cardstock cut first time on Cardstock+ for me.

So there you have it! Now you know how to make a valentine card with handy step by step instructions! Don’t forget to enter your Valentine makes into the Papermilldirect Valentines Craft Challenge for your chance to win a £25 voucher! Good Luck!
