Easy To Make Watercolour Gift Tags

Hello, it’s Lisa here to talk you through a really easy way to make pretty watercolour cards and tags.

Watercolour is HUGE at the moment and is being use a lot in wedding celebrations and in the paper crafting world. There’s something about the delicate, almost dreamy look of watercolour which I find really appealing and it looks great on cards.

If you don’t have the time or artistic inclination to watercolour, there is a whole host of watercolour clip art for sale on Etsy. Much of it comes with a commercial use license so you can sell what you make (you can usually see what the commercial use restriction are in the policies section). Using clip art means that the hard work is done for you and you can easily create some pretty cards in a relatively short amount of time.

For my cards, I used some watercolour Ranunculus (one of my favourite flowers) by Reach Dreams. I printed them onto some Hammered White card from Papermill Direct because the hammered texture isn’t a world away from the texture of watercolour paper. If you managed to pick up some of the felt textured card which was on offer not long ago then that would work well too. Once printed, I cut the card to 3.75 x 4.75 inches and matted onto a card base which was 4 x 5inches. I may have mentioned a time or two before that I don’t make large cards but because the clip art is a high resolution at 300dpi, you can enlarge the Ranunculus to suit whatever card size you feel comfortable with.

The three cards took around 10 minutes to make. Using clip art like this means that the cards are perfect for batch making. I haven't added a sentiment to the front of the cards as they're for my card drawer but because I've left the white space, I can easily stamp a sentiment when I'm ready to give the cards for any occasion.

I also made some matching tags using the same clip art.

If you haven’t got your hands on these already, the Luxury Artist Pads which are currently on offer at Papermill Direct are a must have if you’re looking at honing your watercolour skills (plus they're a complete bargain at £2.80 for A4 size!).
