Papercraft Tutorial - Christmas Gift Tag Ideas

Hello, it's Lisa here and this time I'm going to showing you how to make two different style gift tags for Christmas.

I always find it better to get my gift tags made as early as I can so that I can concentrate on my Christmas cards and other projects. The gift tags don't take as much room to store and are quick makes.

The first tag is so quick and easy to make that I almost don't need to show you how to make it - but I will

You will need

• Papermill Direct White Linen Cardstock
• Pink Petticoat Scriptalicious Christmas digital sentiments 
• A printer
• Tag shaped die and die cutting machine (electronic or manual).
• Sequins and bling - or whatever you have in your craft stash.

1. Print off your digital sentiment and using a tag die and die cutting machine (or use the Print and Cut function in your electronic die cutting machine) cut out your tags. If you don't have a die cutting machine or a tag shaped die, you could make a template using one of the preset shapes in Microsoft Word, draw around your template and trim the shapes out with scissors.

2. Add some sequins and bling to coordinate with your wrapping paper or in traditional Christmas colours to the tag. I recommend using a strong glue as gift tags do tend to get bashed around a bit under the tree. I used Collall All Purpose glue but you could also use a glue gun. Add some bakers twine to the tags and that's the tag finished!

These tags are perfect for batch making and the white linen card makes them feel that little bit more luxurious.

The next tag is a little more advanced.

You will need

• Papermill Direct Navy Card
• Papermill Direct Super Smooth White Card
• Pink Petticoat Digital Stamps (the penguin stamps I have used appear to have been retired).
• Tag shaped die and die cutter.
• Colouring Mediums (I used Letraset Promarkers).
• Rangers Crystal Stickles
• Snow Stencil or make your own (see step 2)
• Aleene's True Snow
• 3D adhesive (I used foam pads),

1. Cut three tag shapes and, print, cut and colour your digital stamps. 

2. If you have a stencil which could be used for a snowy background then lay it over the tag, and using a paintbrush, apply some Aleene's True Snow to the tag. If you don't have one (like me!) and you have access to an electronic die cutter, you can make your own with some acetate. I used a confetti cut file and scaled it down so that the falling snow wouldn't look like they'd hurt the penguin if they landed on him LOL.

Apply the True Snow in a thin layer as shown in the second picture and leave to dry for 10 minutes. You're only using a thin layer so it won't take too long to dry.

3. Once the falling snow has dried, add a thicker layer of the True Snow to the bottom of the tag. This will take a long longer to dry - around 6 hours! Apply the True Snow so that it forms peaks to make it look a little more realistic. 

4. Before you leave the tag to dry completely, add the penguin (or whatever stamp you've used - a snowman would be cute!) to the bottom of the tag and add some stickles for that must-have Christmas sparkle.

Once the tag is completely dry, add some twine.
